Detox Shake Recipe

Try this shake for breakfast and with a salad for lunch to jump-start your detox.

Makes 1 serving

Try this shake for breakfast and with a salad for lunch to jump-start your detox. From Cleanse Your Body, Clear Your Mind: Eliminate Environmental Toxins to Lose Weight, Increase Energy, and Reverse Illness in 30 Days or Less by Jeffrey Morrison, MD.

Brown rice, pea or artichoke protein powder: Approximately 1 scoop, to get 15 grams of protein
1 Tbs. ground flax seed or psyllium husks (more if you are constipated)
2 Tbs. lecithin granules
¼ tsp. cinnamon
8 oz. water
Optional: Ice cubes or ½ cup organic fresh or frozen blueberries, raspberries or strawberries (when using a blender)
Optional flavorings: ½ capful of organic, alcohol-free almond, coffee and/or vanilla extract (such as Frontier or Nature’s Flavors), or 1 tsp. 100% pure cocoa powder.

Stir or shake, or blend with ice cubes and/or berries. For a thicker consistency, add less water.
For a “mochaccino” flavor: add ½ capfuls of almond and coffee extracts.
